Aishwarya Balakrishna | Vice President

Aishwarya (Aish) Balakrishna, MPH (she/her/hers) is a public health professional and community organizer. She has been a part of Young Democrats of Will County since January 2021. Aish has a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences from Purdue University and a Master of Public Health degree from Benedictine University. She has experience working in government through her congressional internship in Congresswoman Lauren Underwood’s district office and currently serves on multiple legislators' advisory councils. Additionally, she has political experience from volunteering on campaigns, and working on Congresswoman Underwood’s 2020 campaign as a Field Organizer and on the 2022 Will County Democratic Coordinated Campaign. Aish is also a founding member of the Will County Democratic AAPI Caucus and serves on the Will County Democratic Central Committee Board as Operations Chair. She is passionate about healthcare, public health, policymaking, working with legislators, and community organizing. Aish is excited to be a part of the leadership of YDWC and hopes to engage and inspire many young people in Will County to be more involved in the democratic process – and of course, get more young people elected to office!
